Aberdeen v Rangers kick-off time changed at request of Sky Sports

The kick-off time for Rangers' season opener against Aberdeen has been changed at the request of Sky Sports.

Steven Gerrard's men being their Premiership campaign at Pittodrie on Saturday August 1, with the game originally scheduled to start at 5.30pm.

The first televised fixture of the season, however, will now kick off at 12.30pm.

As reported by Record Sport, Sky Sports have requested the match be brought forward by five hours.

Gerrard, meanwhile, is believed to be Bristol City's number one managerial target.

The Championship side are without a manager after sacking Lee Johnson following a run of nine games without a win.

It was claimed earlier this month that the club's billionaire owner Steve Lansdown was keen on Gerrard, and Bristol Live are now reporting that the Liverpool legend is the club's number one choice and "hasn't categorically turned down the opportunity".

Gerrard's side have returned to Glasgow after 2-0 victories over Lyon and Nice saw them lift the Veolia Trophy.

Rangers continue their run of pre-season friendlies with games at Ibrox against fellow Premiership side Motherwell on Wednesday and Coventry on Saturday.
