Aberdeen v Motherwell test event latest as Scottish Government delay fan return

Aberdeen have confirmed that they still hope to welcome fans for a test event against Motherwell.

The Scottish Government yesterday announced that football's fan return on September 14 has been postponed until at least October 5.

However, test events for the Dons v Kilmarnock and Celtic's trip to Ross County will still be allowed 300 season ticket holders this weekend.

Earlier this week Aberdeen revealed they hoped to have 750 fans at Pittodrie for the visit of Stephen Robinson's side, subject to Scottish Government approval.

In a statement to Lanarkshire Live Sport , the Granite City side confirmed it was still their "desire" to continue test event supporter attendance.

The club will have to submit a report to the Scottish Government and authorities with our feedback from the Killie clash.

They would then hope to have supporters in the stadium against 'Well, but "this will be entirely dependant on the government and their judgement of how the weekend goes."

The spokeswoman for the club added a final decision will not be made by the authorities until next week.
