Aberdeen totally bottle Celtic clashes but play out of their skins against Rangers - Hotline

Celtic will meet Hearts in the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden Park on Saturday, May 25.

It is the first time the Hoops will have faced the capital club in the end of season showpiece since 1956.

Neil Lennon’s side will attempt to create another huge slice of history by clinching Scottish Football’s first ever treble-Treble.

Celtic will also be trying to win the famous old silver trophy for three years in a row for the first time ever.

Jambos boss Craig Levein will be hoping to raise aloft the first major trophy of his career.

The Hoops defeated nine men Aberdeen 3-0 at the national stadium after Hearts had seen off John Robertson’s Inverness 3-0 24 hours earlier.

Hotline callers were all fired up by the Dons ill-discipline.

First up was Joe Connelly, Glasgow, who e-mailed to say: “Instead of putting his arm around Lewis Ferguson when he was sent off for lunging at Tom Rogic, Derek McInnes should be booting him up the backside.

“Then McInnes follows two players and his assistant up the tunnel.

“What an embarrassment McInnes is to Scottish football.”

James Henderson, Wishaw, said: “Aberdeen were out of order and Dom Ball and Lewis Ferguson were an absolute disgrace.

The moment Ryan Christie suffers sickening head knock as Celtic star rushed to hospital

“Ball’s may have been accidental but he knew exactly what he was doing and he endangered an opponent.

“Ferguson’s tackle was reckless and scandalous and an absolute shocker.”

Andrew McLaughlin, Perth, said: “Ball’s aerial assault on Ryan Christie was sickening and how Tom Rogic has escaped without a broken leg after Ferguson’s lunge is beyond me.

“That was x-certificate stuff from the Reds.”

John Cosgrove, Falkirk, said: "McInnes sent his men out to boot Celtic off the park.

“That much was clear.

“Thankfully we had a referee in Craig Thomson who at least tried to give the Hoops players some protection.

“Aberdeen acted like a gang and got exactly what they deserved.”

Ian Walker, Garthamlock said: “McInnes and his side are absolute charlatans.

Derek McInnes speaks out on Celtic fans' 'sad Orange b*****d' chants and admits he was wrong to react

“The whole of Scottish football bought into the fact that for once Aberdeen might actually go toe-to-toe with Celtic.

“Two players sent off for acts of thuggery and indiscipline which led to the two members of the management team also being sent to the stands.

“It is a sad day for Aberdeen when you try those kind of tactics to stop Celtic.

“Whoever takes over the manager’s job at Celtic had better prepare themselves for two years of the same treatment and not just from Aberdeen.”

George Wilson, Sussex, said: “Aberdeen play out of their skins regularly against Rangers but it all counts for nothing as they always totally bottle it against Celtic .

“It is disgraceful that the Dons adopt such an attitude.

“No trophies again and a third or fourth place finish in the Premiership for the alleged second best team in Scotland.”

Neil Lennon reveals talks with Celtic supremo Dermot Desmond as Hoops edge closer to treble Treble

Stephen Mulhern, Dumbarton, said: “That’s Derek Mcinnes put back in his box after claiming that his team had no fear anymore of playing in Glasgow.

“The game changer was Forrest and he is our very own of Raheem Sterling.”

On to Hearts now and David Hamilton, Oban, issued a ‘Hands off John Souttar message’ to potential suitors Rangers.

David said: “I see Rangers are at it again trying to unsettle players at other clubs by showing interest in them.

“Where’s the money coming from?

“I hope Hearts show the same resolve they did over the Jamie Walker bid.

“At least John Souttar has a secure future at Hearts.”

Meanwhile Noreen McFadden, e-mailed: “It is so refreshing to see two ladies from opposition teams trying to actually do something about the violence from some supporters from different clubs in Scottish football, instead of talking a good game.

“If we all follow their leadership it should be eradicated in no time.

“Well done to Leanne Dempster and Ann Budge.”

Finally James Brown, Glasgow, said: “Steven Bell of Ayr United scored against Dundee United and deliberately ran towards the Tangerines fans to celebrate.

“Will Bell also be cited by the SFA for ‘not acting in the best interests of Association Football’ just like Celtic’s Scott Brown?

“If not - then why not?”
