Aberdeen thank Red Army for 'make history' message as they prepare for Celtic showdown

Aberdeen have thanked their fans for an inspirational banner pinned up at their training centre.

The players arrived at training on Thursday to see the display displayed against a fence next to their training pitches.

It read: "It's our turn this year - make history".

The Dons have been without a trophy since they defeated Inverness to win the League Cup in 2014 and haven't lifted the Scottish Cup since 1990.

They go into the clash buoyed by their performance in the second half of their 3-3 draw with the Hoops at Pittodrie last weekend.

Scott Wright, Sam Cosgrove and co. caused major problems after a stuffy first 45 minutes gave way to an attacking feast in the second half.

And Aberdeen took to their social media platforms to thank their supporters for giving them a morale boost ahead of the big game.

They stated: "Thank you Red Army for the surprise at Cormack Park this morning.

"We know you will be backing us all the way on Sunday."

The move by Dons fans echoes Celtic fan group the Green Brigade's Lennoxtown stunt when they posted a banner reading "We're out here for you, be in there for us" ahead of their defeat to Rangers.
