Aberdeen tattoo parlour worker tests positive for coronavirus

A worker at an Aberdeen tattoo shop has tested positive for coronavirus.

Grey City, in the Rosemount area, have said one of their staff had taken a home test which was positive.

In a post on social media, the shop says an official test will be carried out and that a full disinfection has taken place.

A statement on Facebook reads: "Following our news this morning we would like to confirm that one of our staff members has tested posted for Covid-19 following a home test.

"We have arranged for a official re-test to be carried out and all staff have now been tested.

"The shop has undergone a full disinfection, and anyone that has been in close contact has been notified.

"We will continue to keep you updated as the situation progresses."

The north-east has been rocked by a growing coronavirus cluster which has now reached 110 cases.

NHS Grampian said a total of 39 new cases have been detected in the north-east in the last 24 hours.

The health board says 643 close contacts of detected cases in the cluster have been identified, and will be required to self-isolate.

The cluster was initially linked to the Hawthorn Bar before around 20 other pubs in the city were caught up in the outbreak.

A strict lockdown has now been put in place in the Granite City, with all bars, cafes and restaurants closed, a five-mile travel limit imposed and tight restrictions on meeting people.

It comes as eight Aberdeen players apologised for the "error of judgment" which led to two of them testing positive for coronavirus and the postponement of Saturday's match against St Johnstone.

First-team stars Jonny Hayes, Michael Devlin, Scott McKenna, Matty Kennedy, Sam Cosgrove, Dylan McGeouch, Craig Bryson and Bruce Anderson were all ordered into quarantine after two returned positive coronavirus tests following a visit to a city centre bar last Saturday.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon accused the Dons players of ignoring protocols agreed with the football authorities before the return to action was given the green light.

In a statement, the players apologised "unreservedly to the fans, the manager, the board and all the staff at the club".
