Aberdeen star to choose between Bristol City and Sheffield United as Rangers interest fades - reports

It appears that Bristol City have retained their interest Aberdeen captain Graeme Shinnie.

The Robins were linked with a move for the versatile left-back, who can also play holding midfield, last summer but instead opted to make a move for Jay Dasilva.

Yet HITC reports that the Robins will battle it out with Sheffield United for the 27-year-old's signature this summer.

Shinnie is out of contract in the summer and is available on a free, with clubs in England able to talk to him now that he has entered the final six months of his deal.

Wigan Athletic and Luton Town have also been linked with the player, but it appears that the Robins and Sheffield United are leading the race to sign him.

Rangers were said to have an interest in Shinnie but that move was reportedly ruled out.

Dons boss Derek McInnes has called for clarity over the player's situation.

Super Smith a key architect in Bristol City win and can help lay top six foundations

He told the Daily Record: “Graeme and I speak every other day so I know exactly where he is with this.

“There is hope, of course there is, and we will see.

“I would have liked an answer yesterday, I would have liked an answer in January. We are still in the position where Graeme knows what we can do for him.

“I know how much he loves the club.

“I would like a bit more clarity on it but we speak every day about certain things and I know exactly where he is.

“And I am here to support Graeme make any of his decisions.”
