Aberdeen star Shay Logan makes Holytown Colts kid's day after award win

Holytown Colts star Casey Tait is celebrating after being crowned Youth Football player of the month - and getting a message of congratulations from one of his football heroes.

The 10-year-old, from Motherwell, is a huge Aberdeen fan and upon receiving his prize, Casey was thrilled to receive a video message from Dons star Shay Logan.

More than 3000 youngsters have kept up their football skills during lockdown with free virtual training sessions run by not-for-profit social enterprise, Youth Football Scotland.

Every day, they earned points by logging on to their online resource Keep Scotland Active, recording their home training activities and posting their videos during lockdown.

With the support from some of the game’s biggest names, the top ranked boy and girl scooped a Scottish Building Society Player of the Month award for their dedication and skill.

Robbie Forsyth, Director of Youth Football Scotland, said: “Casey may live 150 miles from Pittodrie but Aberdeen are his favourite team.

“It made his day for such a fantastic role model as Shay to take time out and congratulate him.

“We are so proud of all the 3000 youngsters who took part in the programme during lockdown.”
