Aberdeen software business appoints new chair

STC INSISO has appointed a senior technology specialist as its new chair.

Nial McCollam joins the company bringing experience from his previous senior leadership roles, including his most recent position as chief technology officer at Lloyd’s Register.

The hire forms part of STC INSISO’s recent £2m investment from BGF, which also prompted the appointment of director Richard Pugh.

The Aberdeen-headquartered business provides risk control and assurance software and services.

McCollam has a background of overseeing the growth and innovation of scaling technology companies. As such, he will now provide strategic advice to the expanding team as the business develops its suite of software products, comprising health and safety toolkits, web apps and e-learning systems.

Chief executive Mark Rushton said: “Nial has vast experience and a directly relevant skill set, which means he is ideally placed to assist us in implementing our ambitious growth strategy.”

McCollam added: “I’m thrilled to work with STC INSISO to support their growth ambitions, particularly, building off their strength in providing services and software that help businesses reduce the risk of unintended consequences in their operations.

“STC INSISO’s commitment to innovating risk reducing and performance enhancing solutions is much needed as businesses across multiple industries face increasing risks and complexities within their operations.”

The company's products span culture, safety and solutions to improve business processes and performance, utilised across industries including oil and gas, construction, marine and utilities.

Its annual revenue for 2022 was £4m and that figure is predicted to grow significantly over the next two to four years, following the investment received from BGF in February.
