Aberdeen’s savage injury list for Rangers clash as Calvin Ramsay faces extended absence

Aberdeen are facing an injury crisis ahead of their trip to face Rangers, with Calvin Ramsay and Jack MacKenzie joining the injury list.

The Dons took a 1-0 win over Hibs at Pittodrie on Saturday, but the victory came with some fresh fitness woes.

Ramsay was forced off after half an hour, with centre-back Declan Gallagher also injured before half-time and Joe Lewis played on with a broken nose.

That added to an ankle problem for McKenzie, who - along with Ramsay - could be out for up to a month.

Manager Stephen Glass was already without Mikey Devlin and Matty Kennedy, as well as Andy Considine who suffered a cruciate ligament injury against Qarabag at the beginning of the season.

It means Aberdeen will be taking something of a patchwork squad to Ibrox, with defence likely to be a particular issue and Glass admitted: "We need to patch up what we’ve got and go to Ibrox and we’re ready to roll."

Captain Scott Brown had to drop into the backline against Hibs, with Glass admitting after the match he's having to change things on the fly.

He said: "We had to reshape the team, throw bodies on and players had to play in positions that are not natural to them so that side of it was part of the win.

"Like recent weeks, I don't think we gave up too many opportunities for the other team to score and if we had made the mistakes that we had previously, maybe I would be sitting here saying the same things again."
