Aberdeen's Red TV commentator makes bizarre offside claim as Billy Mckay grabs Ross County winner

It's only natural for club TV commentators to be biased towards their teams.

It's commonly expected that they completely ignore common sense and stick to their guns that their team has been wronged.

But a commentator on Aberdeen's RedTV took things to extremes when he tried to claim that Billy Mckay was offside for Ross County's winner.

With the Dons down to 10 men and having thrown away an early lead, you can understand him being a bit frustrated.

But as Don Cowie clipped the ball over the top of the Aberdeen defence, the Northern Ireland striker was clearly onside before he smashed it beyond Joe Lewis.

The commentator wasn't willing to believe that though and states: “That’s offside,” before disbelievingly adding, “Offside, that’s offside, he’s offside.

"Billy Mckay just whips the ball past Joe Lewis but again, he looks offside."

But, spotting the error, his co-commentator quickly adds: “He might just have timed his run perfectly”.

The result moves Ross County eight points clear of Hamilton in 11th and 10 points ahead of bottom side Hearts.

Aberdeen, who had Dean Campbell sent off after Curtis Main had opened the scoring, drop down to fourth behind Motherwell.

Mckay also grabbed the equaliser for the Staggies in the 2-1 win.
