Aberdeen 'reject transfer request' from Nottingham Forest target Scott McKenna

Aberdeen are said to be unwilling to budge over their valuation of Nottingham Forest target Scott McKenna, having reportedly turned down a transfer request from the defender.

The centre-back has been the subject of unsuccessful bids from the Reds and Championship rivals QPR this summer – both of which were believed to be in the region of £3m – while Hull City, Stoke City, Aston Villa and Celtic have also previously had an interest in the 22-year-old.

McKenna has apparently told the club he wants to move on, just a matter of days before the English transfer window closes on Thursday.

But, according to The Press and Journal, the Dons are “adamant” the Scotland international will not be allowed to leave on the cheap, with their valuation said to be somewhere around the £6-10m mark.

Aberdeen make the trip to Croatia for a Europa League third round qualifier against HRK Rijeka on Thursday, and boss Derek McInnes admitted at the weekend he was not sure if McKenna would be on the plane.

Confirming there had been another offer from QPR last week, he said: “Will Scott be on the plane? Who knows.

“But as it stands, if there is no other action he will be.

“There was a fresh offer.

“I don’t know if there was a written offer from Nottingham Forest but there certainly was from QPR on Friday – but clearly it wasn’t enough.

“It was a slight increase and it was structured in a certain way but it was not enough for the club to accept.

“Scott’s had a lot to contend with but his performances have been great.

“It’s up to the buying club to make my chairman think differently but as it stands Scott will remain with us.”
