Aberdeen pull plug on John Bostock move after winning Funso Ojo fight

Aberdeen have pulled the plug on a loan move for John Bostock after winning the fight for Funso Ojo.

The Dons were in talks with Toulouse over a loan deal for their midfielder but have now got their bid to sign Scunthorpe’s Ojo over the line.

Derek McInnes beat off Hibs to sign Ojo for around £150,000.

That capture has helped McInnes to solve his current midfield crisis at Aberdeen , with Stephen Gleeson and Craig Bryson still not fit.

Bostock was another target that was being considered.

The 27-year-old was tipped for big things when Tottenham signed him but in recent seasons his career has turned into a more nomadic European experience.

Bostock has had spells in Belgium with Royal Antwerp and Oh Leuven, then headed to Lens in France and Turkey’s Bursaspor before he moved to Toulouse last season, where he was a team mate of Celtic new boy Christopher Jullien.

McInnes was desperate to get another midfield option in for what he hopes will be an extended Europa League run.

The Dons beat RoPS 2-1 at home on Thursday and head to Finland for the return next week.

McInnes has been really active in the transfer market this summer, signing Curtis Main, Jon Gallagher, Ryan Hedges, Greg Leigh, Craig Bryson and a return for Ash Taylor.
