Aberdeen midfielder targeted as Hamilton Accies boss Brian Rice provides major transfer update

Brian Rice admits progress has been made in adding new signings with a host of players at Hamilton.

The Accies boss confirmed that a new signing would be unveiled before Saturday while another deal is close.

The 57-year-old also revealed that he's taking a look at a couple of trialists in training.

Rice wants to replace Hakeem Odoffin, who joined Rotherham on Tuesday, and it's understood that Aberdeen's Miko Virtanen is a target.

Hamilton have been granted permission to speaking to the 22-year-old and Rice hopes that a couple of signings will be completed before Accies' game with Morton on Saturday.

“Yeah, there has been [progression],” admitted Rice. “It’s not been tied up yet but there are one or two bodies in the building.

“I’ve also got one or two trialists in as well. There will be at least one new body by the weekend and I’m hopeful that there will be more than one - but there definitely will be one.

“We obviously need to strengthen at the top end of the pitch. We’ve known that all along and we are concentrating on that.

“With Hakeem leaving, we need to add a midfield player. We are looking to strengthen the midfield and the front line.”
