Aberdeen injury update as Greg Stewart, Connor McLennan and Dean Campbell fight for Hampden place

Derek McInnes is confident injured Aberdeen trio Greg Stewart, Connor McLennan and Dean Campbell will all be passed fit for Sunday's Scottish Cup semi final showdown with Celtic.

Stewart and McLennan were hurt in last week's win over Dundee while Campbell picked up a knock in the win over Motherwell three days earlier.

McLennan is the most serious of the three having suffered a recurrence of a shoulder injury after an awkward fall at Dens Park.

Campbell and Stewart are nursing foot knocks but McInnes says all should be available for Hampden.

He said on Wednesday morning: “Connor didn’t train yesterday, but he will train today. Greg and Dean have both done some work yesterday.

“But because both knocks are on the foot we are trying to resist them doing contact work.

“However, we expect they will be able to participate in full training by Friday and have absolutely no concerns about them not being ready for the game.”

McLennan reported that his shoulder had popped out of position before being repaired on the park at Dens.

But McInnes added: “He has a wee problem with the shoulder that he’s had for a wee while and he’s played enough games with it.

Aberdeen have put Rangers to shame and are still Scotland's second force - Hotline

“He’s getting used to the pain at times because it’s happened before, but he’s fine.

“He’s been contributing well this season, Connor, and he’s not had his troubles to seek with injuries over the last few years.

“You see when he has a clean bill of health how effective he can be for us.”
