Hamilton Women’s head coach Gary Doctor says his side will have to ride a storm of fitness issues to win their crucial SWPL 1 clash on Sunday against Aberdeen.
Accies finish off their competitive league schedule for 2021 this weekend against the Dons, looking to move off the bottom spot of 10th against the team above them.
But Doctor says that illness, injury, Covid and a car crash has left his side fighting for full fitness.
He said: “It’s a big game and we want to finish the year strong going into the break. The most important thing is getting points on the board and getting closer to the clubs around us again.
“We want to get that result we are capable of getting. You can’t count on being due anything, you have to perform, and for the large part our performances have been good.
“We need to ride through the bumps we have had thrown at us this week. We’ve had a couple of players test positive for Covid, one is waiting for test results after being abroad, another’s been in a car accident.
“We’ve had a couple of niggles and injuries. A few things have piled up, but we think it will bring the players closer together.
“We know how important the game is this Sunday, but you get these things. It’s just another added layer of things we could be doing without; there are players with Covid, you never know how they are going to recover.”
