Aberdeen flight aborts landing on runway during Storm Corrie in heart-stopping clip

The heart-racing moment a flight that took off in Scotland aborted landing during Storm Corrie has been caught on camera.

The jet tail of the British Airway plane, which took off in Aberdeen, hit the runway at Heathrow Airport during the terrifying 'touch and go' situation on Monday January 31.

Arriving shortly after midday after taking off around 11am, the aircraft can be seen struggling to keep itself steady amid 90mph winds.

Its wheels bounce off the tarmac a few times before the pilot was forced to abort landing and lift the plane back into the air.

Jerry Dyer, the founder, presenter and producer of Big Jet TV, a live streaming platform specialising in Live Aviation content, caught the breathtaking footage.

He shared the moment online, describing the tense situation as they watched the plane hit the runway at over 160mph.

He said: "A full-on touch and go, with a tail strike!

"You could see the paint dust after contact, as well as the empennage shaking furiously as it dragged along the runway.

"This pilot deserves a medal!"

A British Airways spokesperson said: 'Our pilots are highly trained to manage a range of scenarios, including extreme weather conditions, and our flight crew landed the aircraft safely.

"Our customers and crew all disembarked as normal."

Storm Corrie caused havoc in Scotland, with the M90 closed southbound after reports of a HGV being 'blown through the barrier'.

Video footage of an accident on Sunday shows a lorry crashed through a barrier on the road.

The back of the vehicle can be seen on the verge of the road as the rest of the vehicle is further down the embankment.
