Aberdeen fans go above and beyond as Dons recognise diehards fighting for their club

Aberdeen supporters have jumped at the opportunity to snap up season tickets despite the fate of this and next campaign remaining a mystery.

Chairman Dave Cormack put 2020/21 briefs on sale just two days before the SFA and SPFL moved to suspend all football in the country indefinitely.

Since then the escalating scale of the coronavirus crisis has put clubs like Aberdeen at risk with no matches to receive income from - but the Pittodrie club can rely on loyal fans.

Record Sport revealed this week that sales are up by 10 per cent as fans rally around the Dons with Cormack painting a bleak future for Scottish football unless investment continues.

Swathes of supporters have moved to renew their seats for next season despite the uncertain future and the club are giving back the support as they have been 'liking' tweets from those who have renewed their seat.

@broomhilldons said: "Bought me & the son’s today. We don’t know when all this will be over but football & Aberdeen FC will play it’s part in lifting spirits & getting back to normality when it eventually comes. #stillstandingfree"

@eaitken1983 added: "Getting my season ticket today. No idea if I'll ever get to use it but every little helps for @AberdeenFC Best club in the world."

And @Bobmcgill1 said: " @AberdeenFC Season tickets for myself and my grandson renewed for next season! #standfree", with Aberdeen replying: "Thanks Bob, we look forward to having you both back at Pittodrie soon! #StandFree"

As part of a re-jigged Pittodrie seating arrangement, the popular Red Shed singing section will be a permanent fixture at Scottish Premiership games.

Overall capacity has been reduced to 15,500 however as the upper Richard Donald Stand has been closed.
