Aberdeen face renewed Scott McKenna transfer interest as QPR weigh up bid

Queen's Park Rangers are weighing up a renewed bid for Scotland star Scott McKenna.

The Championship outfit have failed with multiple offers, including one on deadline day, for the talented Aberdeen defender.

QPR boss Mark Warburton is still keen to add a central defender when the window re-opens and McKenna is high up his list of targets.

It all depends if his Championship side feel they can agree a fee with Aberdeen, who previously turned down a £7 million bid from Aston Villa.

QPR made a bid at the end of the window but the Dons threw it out because it was the day they travelled to Croatia for their Europa League clash with Rijeka.

Another issue is that the deal was heavy with add-ons, a lot of them were not guaranteed.

QPR’s issue is they have to stay within the limits of Financial Fair Play and have been curtailed by that since their big-spending days in the Premier League.

The Rs’ have been trailing McKenna for 18 months and is one that Director of Football Les Ferdinand has been keeping close tabs on.

Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack has already said his club don’t need to sell in January and will only do so on their own terms.

He did, however, conceded that they would also have to take the player’s thoughts into consideration.

McKenna put a transfer list in the last window and has seen multiple bids from the likes of Aston Villa, Celtic, Swansea City, Stoke and Hull City turned down in recent windows.
