Aberdeen and Hibs learn potential Premier Sports Cup opponents as pots and seedings confirmed

The final seedings for the Premier Sports Cup have been confirmed with Aberdeen and Hibs joining the Premiership representatives in Pot 1.

St Johnstone 's 4-0 thumping of Inverness in the Premiership playoff saw the curtain brought down on the SPFL season but eyes are already turning to 2022/23.

The draw will take place tomorrow, Wednesday 25 May, and for the first time in the competition's current format it will take place with no regionalised groups.

It means the group stage will be completely open aside from the seedings which are based on league positions.

The 40 participants at this stage are split into five pots with the seven top flight teams, plus relegated Dundee going into pot one.

Pot 2 consists of eight teams from last season's Championship as well as Dunfermline, who dropped into League One via the playoffs.

Meanwhile promoted Queen's Park join the Championship's bottom side Queen of the South in Pot 3.

Since five Premiership clubs go into European competition and get a bye into the second round, Highland League teams Fraserburgh and Buckie Thistle join Pot 5 to round it up to 40 and ensure an even five groups of eight.
