How many fans Aberdeen and Hibs could welcome for Europa Conference League bows

Hibs and Aberdeen hope to have home supporters in for their maiden runs in the Europa League Conference.

Hibs play the winners of Mons Calpe Sports Club or FC Santa Coloma while the Dons take on FK Hacken.

Both first-legs are due to be at home on July 22.

Hibs have applied to get 5,000 supporters into Easter Road while Aberdeen are working at around 2,000 for their Pittodrie clash.

National clinical director Jason Leitch revealed at the weekend that Scottish football stadiums could be at full capacity by August.

That will come too early for the early Europeans games.

Both clubs are waiting for their local authorities to give them the go-ahead for their proposals.

The limited numbers means that both clubs are likely to go to a ballot with their season tickets far outnumbering their meagre allocations.

Those numbers are also on the proviso their area drops down a level and don’t remain as they currently sit.

The away legs are due to be held on July 29th but as it stands UEFA have warned against any away supporters travelling.

Hibs are also looking for a similar figure for their pre-season friendly with Arsenal.

The Leitch side are reasonably confident their move will get passed especially as Edinburgh has already hosted more than 16,500 fans at Murrayfield for the British Lions’ clash with Japan on Saturday.
