Aberdeen and Edinburgh Flybe flights cancelled

Passengers were left stranded this morning after Flybe cancelled flights from Edinburgh and Aberdeen this morning.

The airline apologised for the cancellations which it said were for "operational reasons". The 7.20am from Edinburgh to Southampton was cancelled along with scheduled arrivals at 10.55am from Southampton and 1.55pm from Birmingham. From Aberdeen, the 7am to Birmingham and 11.10am to Belfast, and arrivals due at 10.40am from Birmingham, 11.55am from Humberside and 1.50pm from Belfast were cancelled.

Connect Airways' £2.8 million offer for Flybe is completed

Other flights from Belfast City Airport, Birmingham, Southampton and Newcastle were also affected, most of them domestic services.

Flybe was bought by Connect Airways, a consortium of Virgin, Stobart Air and Cyrus Capital, in December after a battle for control between investors.

The airline apologised for the inconvenience to passengers and said: "All customers affected have been emailed and advised they can rebook for travel on an alternative flight or apply for a full refund."
