Abercrombie and Fitch set to permanently close flagship College Green shop

Abercrombie and Fitch is set to permanently close its flagship College Green shop in Dublin city centre.

The American retailer opened the store to much fanfare in 2012, and it has remained a fixture on Dame Street since.

But the shop has not been open at all in 2021 thanks to the COVID-19 lockdown, and becomes the latest store the company is shutting as it begins to prioritise online sales.

A spokesperson for Paddy McKillen's Clarendon Properties, which owns the lease for the building, told the Irish Examiner that the lease on the store is set to expire, and that Abercrombie has no interest in renewing.

They also said that there are “a number of interested parties” to take over the prime shopping spot.

The hugely-popular store has previously batted away rumours of closure of its store both in 2013 and 2018.
