Prime Minister Shinzo Abe made a congratulatory telephone call on Saturday night from his home in Tomigaya, Tokyo, to Yuzuru Hanyu, who won back-to-back gold medals in the men's singles figure skating at the Pyeongchang Olympics.
"I was in front of the TV, [and I was so excited] I almost crushed my mikan tangerine in my hand," Abe said. "You overcame injuries to create a new legend."
Hanyu replied: "My hard work so far has finally been rewarded. It's a very meaningful victory."
