Abducted man returns home

Mangaluru: A fish seller who was abducted by unidentified miscreants on Thursday evening, returned home on Friday morning, said Vittal police.

According to police, Mohammed Ansar,31, is the fish seller. The complainant, who is the victim’s relative, said Ansar was into the fish business, and had suffered huge losses. He had borrowed money from many people, including his friends.

On Thursday morning, Ansar had come to Mangaluru for work, and at 4.45 pm had called his relative, and said that he was being abducted by unidentified persons who came in a car. The incident took place near Kolnadu village in Bantwal. A complaint under Indian Penal Code Section 365 (kidnapping) was registered at the jurisdictional police station. Police said that the victim had returned home on Friday morning, and he has yet to give a statement to the police.

Home burgled

Unidentified burglars who broke into a house under Uppinagady police station limits, have fled with gold and cash valued at Rs 1.3 lakh. According to complainant Mohammed A, his aunt Fathima was living alone in a house in Uppinangady.

On Tuesday, she went to attend the funeral of her brother-in-law in Bolantur in Bantwal. When she returned home two days later, she found the rear door of her house was broken, and that her house had been burgled.

The miscreants burgled Rs 30,000 and Rs 1 lakh worth of gold. A case has been registered at the jurisdictional police station.
