ABC News and their top anchor have settled a defamation suit with Donald Trump, agreeing to pay the president-elect $15 million. The settlement, filed publicly, states that ABC News will make a $15 million charitable contribution to a Presidential foundation and museum for Trump, along with $1 million in attorney fees. The settlement also includes statements of regret from ABC News and the anchor in an editor's note on a March 10, 2024, online article.
The lawsuit stemmed from comments made during an interview where Trump was referred to as being 'liable for rape,' which led to the defamation suit. Despite initial defiance from the anchor, a settlement was reached to avoid a trial, with both parties agreeing to the terms in the Southern District of Florida Federal Court.

Meanwhile, in other legal matters involving Trump, a Special Counsel dismissed a case related to the 2020 election, and a judge granted a request to dismiss charges in a case brought by the Manhattan District Attorney. Trump is also pursuing a $10 billion lawsuit against CBS News for alleged deceptive conduct in an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris.
