We haven’t seen much of Bachelorette cast member John Paul Jones through two episodes in Hannah Brown’s season, but ABC released an incredible scene on YouTube that somehow didn’t make the final cut.
John Paul Jones – a 24-year-old who lists his occupation as “John Paul Jones” and”rarely uses words that are less than three syllables long,” according to his bio – decided to show his affection for Hannah in a private moment by sacrificing a strand of his golden hair for her to keep.
“There’s more to me than my sort of funny or playful side. Vincent Van Gogh showed sacrifice to his greatest love by cutting his ear off and giving it to her. So I wanted to let you cut a piece of my hair, and I wanted you to keep it and think of me.”
Before handing over the scissors, John Paul Jones got a bit choked up as he steeled himself for what was about to happen.
Hannah: “Are you OK?”
John Paul Jones: “Yeah, no, it’s just….Love is showing sacrifice for another person, and I’m willing to sacrifice.”
