Abba fans can expect new music to finally be released “in September or October” this year, one of the iconic group’s member has revealed.
Björn Ulvaeus told Denmark’s Ekstra Bladet tabloid on Wednesday that “it takes an extremely long time” to craft video footage with the avatars of the group members.
Abba said in April 2018 that they would launch a digital tour featuring virtual avatars of Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Agnetha Faltskog, and that they had been spending time in the recording studio.
They announced two forthcoming new songs, including one titled “I Still Have Faith In You”.
Abba had been aiming to deliver a virtual performance of the title during a TV special in December 2018, but ran into delays.
Ulvaeus said in his recent interview that the project “has been delayed for too long”.
Abba shot to fame by winning the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest with “Waterloo”.
They released world-famous hits in the 1970s, such as “Dancing Queen”, before splitting up in 1982. Their most recent single, “Thank You for the Music”, was released in 1983.
