On the market for £150k with Lloyd Herbert & Jones, the 10.5 acre site is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty which is already a "fantastic backdrop for ramblers, cyclists and bikers."
Once employing up to 200 workers, the quarry finally shut in the 1970s but up until the outbreak of Covid in 2020 Gaewern's underground caverns were part of an award-winning tourist attraction.

In conjunction with the adjoining Braichgoch mine caverns, budding adventurers could get suited up to explore the subterranean world, guided by a group called the Corris Mine Explorers - a tour crowned Best Experience in Mid Wales 2019/20.
And, subject to an annual mine engineers inspection and insurance backing, this enterprise could be continued in the future.
The site also became notorious in recent years for an underground car graveyard known as the Cavern of Lost Souls , but that isn't part of the quarry land currently up for sale.
