Abandoned home up for sale for £155,000 - but it stands out for all the wrong reasons

Along a main road that meanders through the popular town of Caerphilly there's a semi-detached period property that stands out from its surrounding neighbours for all the wrong reasons.

There's peeling paint across the façade, patches of potential damp and windows that look like they have seen better days.

Then there's the roof, guttering and chimney stack that are all a bit suspect and a few plants beginning to creep up the side.

For most people this rundown house would be the stuff of nightmares but for some it's the perfect property because it has oodles of potential and can be lavished with a renovation project that could make it the best house on the street.

But it will need a decent budget and probably a new owner with experience of past renovations for this property project to avoid becoming a money pit.

There are signs of damp, everything needs doing to bring the house back to life and the garden is a sea of knee-high weeds hiding goodness knows what underneath, Wales Online reports.

But that means adding value and how much a new owner does will depend on budget available, planning, and the future of the house in relation to the street's ceiling price - is it going to be a family home, be flipped for a profit or be rented out?

The house sits on a corner plot and that might mean an extra layer of potential - the garden is very long so maybe the end of it could be separated from the main house and become a building plot, subject to planning consent of course.

Gemma Vaughan, of Newport-based Paul Fosh Auctions, who are selling the house, says: "Although the house requires complete renovation, both inside and out, including wrestling with the overgrown garden to get it under control, the basics are there for a really lovely family home."

This Caerphilly renovation house is going to virtual online auction with Paul Fosh Auctions with a guide price of £155,000 from 12 noon on Tuesday, May 16 until 5pm on Thursday, May 18.
