Abandoned gift-wrapped packages cause new evacuation of Time Warner Center

NEW YORK _ A pair of abandoned, gift-wrapped packages caused another evacuation of the Time Warner Center in New York on Thursday night, police said.

Police said they learned of the incident at about 7:30 p.m. The mall was reopened about 8:40 p.m., after the packages were found to pose no danger, police said.

The packages were found atop a trash bin near an escalator, said a New York Police Department counterterrorism source.

One package contained a toy car, and the other contained a doll, the source said.

A diner at one of the center's restaurants reported the evacuation on Twitter.

"Am at dinner at Landmarc at Time Warner Center _ we are being evacuated from the building," wrote Tony Morrison, a producer on ABC's "Good Morning America."

Morrison later tweeted a picture of people leaving the buildings.

It was the second time in two days that the building was evacuated in a bomb threat.

Time Warner Center was emptied out on Wednesday after a bomb addressed to former CIA director John Brennan was mailed to CNN's New York headquarters in the building.

Police also removed another mail bomb Thursday morning at Tribeca Grill, a restaurant in New York owned by Robert De Niro.

Other targets in the mail bomb terror campaign have included President Barack Obama, former Vice President Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton and Rep. Maxine Waters of California.

Authorities suspect the bombs were sent from Florida.
