Abandoned college goes up in flames as police launch arson investigation

Detectives have launched an arson investigation after a fire at an abandoned college.

Emergency services were called to the derelict building of Glenburn College, on Glenburn Road, in Skelmersdale.

The former college building was up in flames as fire crews were called out at 6.45pm.

Dramatic pictures from the scene show thick, black plumes of smoke billowing from the disused building.

No-one was injured during the fire, although the blaze does come after reports of alleged fires in the same property.

The ECHO understands the abandoned building has been targeted prior, in recent weeks.

Lancashire Police confirmed it was investigating the fire.
