The body of a man has been found off the West Australian coast, the day after a small boat was spotted circling 10 kilometres out to sea with a small dog on board.
The abandoned dinghy was reported to WA Police on Wednesday afternoon by a beach fisherman who spotted it in the distance at Yanchep, 56km north of Perth.
An immediate search failed to locate the missing 68-year-old man believed to be on board.
It resumed on Thursday morning with police bringing in aircraft, drones and jet skis to help with the efforts.
By mid-morning the search team reported the discovery of the man's body.
His boat and the dog were safely returned to shore.
A report will be prepared for the WA coroner.
