Abandon Ship Bar to open first food and drink spot in Glasgow

Abandon Ship Bar is set to arrive in Glasgow with its first food and drink spot in our city.

Richard Davies first started Abandon Ship as an apparel brand almost a decade ago with pop-up stores appearing in Princes Square.

He's since teamed up with business partner AJ McMenemy, launching a popular bar in Dundee. However, they will soon expand into the city centre of Glasgow, 'the cultural home of the brand'.

The duo have also been hard at work to bring The Luchador to Glasgow's south side, as we've reported on the site in recent months.

Speaking to Glasgow Live, AJ told us: "We’ve been trading as Abandon Ship Bar in Dundee now close to two years.

"We see Glasgow as the cultural home of our brand. The first pop-up stores we had after the creation of Abandon Ship Apparel around 10 years ago was in Princes Square. It’s always been about us making a return to Glasgow, to the city the brand was born.

"We’ve managed to secure a property for Abandon Ship Bar in Glasgow city centre, which we intend to start work on in the next month or so."

In the meantime, to give Glaswegians a taste of what to expect, Abandon Ship Bar has started its food delivery service in our city in recent weeks, serving up the likes of juicy burgers, wings and cocktails via Uber Eats.

And it's hoped as soon as the current restrictions are relaxed, The Luchador will welcome in its first customers too.

AJ said: "The Luchador is fully ready to go and open. We were reluctant to start our food delivery network for there at the moment, before customers have really had an opportunity to try it in-house.

"Abandon Ship Bar has been trading for almost two years now and we’re really quite confident in the product."
