Abandon Ship bar launches new menu with small plates, boozy shakes and desserts

One of Glasgow's newest bars has launched a brand new food and drinks menu featuring small plates, boozy hard shakes and a dessert menu.

Abandon Ship launched last month and has become a popular destination thanks to its unique interior and mouth-watering cocktail selection.

The bar on Mitchell Street is complete with an 80s Tron-inspired arcade entrance, Abandon Ship photobooth, designated Pickle Shack, and Abandon Ship Apparel merchandise stand.

Set across two floors, the new restaurant, bar, and retail concept is adorned with wall-to-wall street art by creative director, Richard Davies - boasting 'Instagram moments at every turn'.

The new menu will run for lunch and dinner will feature locally sourced ingredients in the likes of smoked sea salt and malt vinegar popcorn and brown shrimp homemade crackers with a peanut and chilli dip, slow-cooked sticky beef short rib on the bone, pineapple mustard, and crispy shallots, blackened beetroot with homemade cornbread with pickled beetroot relish and whipped crowdie.

There are also sides like their signature fried halloumi, harissa yoghurt with pomegranate and mint, alongside juicy pretzel bun burgers and double-dredged Southern-style wings.

They've also created a dessert menu that features nostalgic deep fried mars bar Taquito with indulgent vanilla ice cream and boozy hard shakes menu which is served stack high. ‘Going Overboard’ is one of their signature freak shakes with creamy vanilla ice cream, spiced rum, Amaretto, lashings of cherry syrup, whipped cream, Biscoff biscuit, biscuit crumb and a cherry on top.

Speaking of the menu, group executive chef, Nathan Kidney said:“Bold flavours and imaginative small plates are what you’ll find on our new menu. We wanted our customers to experience excellent international dishes at whatever time of the day they visit.

“Whether you fancy lunch or a late-night boozy shake, we’ve got something for everyone on the menu.”
