Aaron Wan-Bissaka transfer: Man Utd 'have £40m bid rejected' for right-back

Manchester United have suffered a setback in their pursuit of Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is preparing for a huge squad overhaul this summer after a disappointing campaign last time out.

The Norwegian has made signing a new right-back among his priorities and Wan-Bissaka is top of the shortlist.

And the Old Trafford club have stepped up their interest by making an initial bid for the highly-rated defender.

However, according to The Times, the Eagles have rejected that £40million offer and are holding out for at least £65m.

It is also claimed that Chelsea and Manchester City are keen on Wan-Bissaka following a stunning season at Selhurst Park.

He played 39 matches across three domestic competitions for Palace last season, grabbing four assists from the right-back position.

On the international stage, he has represented England at various junior levels and is part of the Under-21s squad for the European Championship this summer.

The Eagles are standing firm over their stance and United may now prioritise the signing of Thomas Meunier from Paris Saint-Germain.

United will have to make do without Champions League football next season after failing to finish in the Premier League’s top four.

Solskjaer feels the club need a new right-back following the exit of Antonio Valencia, while Ashley Young disappointed during the latter stages of last season.
