Aaron Wan-Bissaka officially joins Man Utd in £50m transfer from Crystal Palace

Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace.

Wan-Bissaka, 21, underwent a medical at Carrington on Thursday after a deal worth £50million was struck on Tuesday.

The Crystal Palace right back travelled to Manchester on Wednesday after returning from the Under-21 European Championships with England.

He was given permission to complete the formalities of his move and was put up at the Lowry Hotel overnight, where Jose Mourinho lived during his two-and-a-half-year spell as manager.

Wan-Bissaka has put pen to paper on a five-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months after United agreed to pay £45m up-front, plus £5m in performance-related add-ons.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was determined to secure the Wan-Bissaka deal before his squad begin pre-season training on Monday.

And after weeks of talks between United’s chief negotiator Matt Judge and Palace, the deadlock was finally broken, with the starlet becoming the most expensive defender in the history of Old Trafford.

But Solskjaer clearly believes he will prove value for money after urging executive vice chairman Ed Woodward to meet Palace’s demands.

The Norwegian is prioritising emerging, domestic talent and believes Wan-Bissaka represents one of the brightest prospects in the country.
