Aaron Wan-Bissaka in hot water with Man Utd after Dubai trip puts pre-season return in jeopardy

Aaron Wan-Bissaka looks set to miss the start of Manchester United's pre-season training after flying out to Dubai.

The 22-year-old has been enjoying some time off in the Middle East country of United Arab Emirates, but under new United Kingdom quarantine rules he will now have to partake in 14 days of self-isolation.

He is due to fly back at the end of the week, meaning he will likely not be available until mid-September.

The Red Devils are scheduled to get back to work next week, meaning Wan-Bissaka will likely be absent as training resumes.

And according to the Daily Mail United are furious because they provided players will travel guidance with regards to where they were and were not allowed to travel to, with UAE being blacklisted.

Wan-Bissaka could now face disciplinary action when he returns to Manchester, and it remains to be seen how harshly the club choose to deal with him.

Generally, athletes are protected by 'elite sportsperson' protocol, meaning they are exempt from self-isolation rules when travelling with their clubs to compete or train.

However, because Wan-Bissaka's trip was not associated with United this is not applied in this instance.

The former Crystal Palace man was an important part of the first-team last season, having made an immediate impression following his arrival from selhurst Park last summer.

But manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is likely to not be best pleased to be without him for the start of pre-season.

It is the latest setback in what has been a turbulent week for United.

Captain Harry Maguire was this week found guilty of aggravated assault, resisting arrest and repeated attempts of bribery on Tuesday following a late night brawl in Mykonos last week.

The England defender has been handed a prison sentence of 21 months and 10 days, suspended for three years, although it has been confirmed he has appealed against the decision.
