Aaron Wan-Bissaka didn't receive a goal bonus despite hitting the back of the net against Newcastle this weekend.
The right-back scored his first goal for the Red Devils - and the first of his career - in the 4-1 win, smashing the ball past Karl Darlow and into the roof of the Magpies net.
But he didn't receive a cash bonus for his achievement.
According to The Athletic, Man United chiefs opted against including a goal bonus in the England star's contract when he joined the club from Crystal Palace in a deal worth £50m.
The defender had only managed a single shot on target in 37 Premier League appearances before signing for the Red Devils in 2019, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer clearly didn't believe it would be worthwhile encouraging him to score goals.
Wan-Bissaka's Manchester United team-mate Bruno Fernandes spoke out about the right-back's unlikely goal against Newcastle.
"[We were so happy] because we didn't know he can shoot!" Fernandes told MUTV. "So it's difficult for us believing he can score because we never see him shooting.
"We were talking about it now in the dressing room and asking him because we all were thinking he wanted to cross and he makes a bad ball and scores.
"But I'm happy for him, he deserved the goal and we always ask this from him. Be more positive, be more in the box, try and improve because he has such good qualities.
"Everyone knows about him being a defensive player and everything but he needs to show that he's more than a defensive player and I think he has the qualities to show that."
