Aaron Wan-Bissaka addresses his future amid Manchester United transfer interest in Jeremie Frimpong

Aaron Wan-Bissaka insists it has always been his intention to stay at Manchester United amid continued speculation regarding his future.

Wan-Bissaka has enjoyed a season of healthy competition at right-back, fighting with Diogo Dalot for a place in Erik ten Hag's plans. The 25-year-old fought his way back into the picture after the World Cup break, with all of his 20 starts this term coming from December onwards.

But reported interest in right-backs has been consistent in recent months, with United said to be eyeing anumber of options including Denzel Dumfries and Jeremie Frimpong. With Dalot currently in talks over a new contract, speculation has increased regarding Wan-Bissaka's future.

"It has been my intention to stay but during that period (out of the team) my aim was just to play, everyone loves playing and it makes me happy. During that time I would do anything to play again," he told The Telegraph. "I am happy here, I have been happy since I've joined and that is what I worked for and what I continue to work for."

On United's bid to finish in the top four and return to the Champions League next season, Wan-Bissaka said: "That was our aim, to get the top four, and that is our target. We have had some injuries which were not good news to us but at the same time there is nothing we can do. The best thing we can do is stick together and get as far as we can."

Wan-Bissaka was put up for sale last year but United did not receive any concrete offers for the right-back, while interest in January came shortly after a resurgence in form and Ten Hag was resistant to lose first-team options midway through a busy season.

United have held talks with representatives of Frimpong ahead of a potential summer move, with Ten Hag keen on his Dutch compatriot, who has enjoyed an excellent season with Bayer Leverkusen.
