Aaron Rodgers says he felt ‘a little disgust’ hearing Colts fans boo Andrew Luck

Across the NFL community, players were disappointed to hear the Colts fans boo Andrew Luck as he left the field for the final time at Lucas Oil Stadium. The 29-year-old’s plans to retire leaked during the Colts’ preseason game against Chicago on Saturday, which led to obvious frustration in the stands.

You can count Aaron Rodgers among the players upset with the entire ordeal.

The Packers quarterback joined SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio on Monday, and he said that his initial reaction to Luck’s retirement was a “little disgust” for both how the story leaked during the game and the reception from the fans.

He said:

“Surprise was obviously the first emotion. Young player. He’s got a really good career. But I think the second was a little disgust with the way it was handled. Him getting booed, the word leaking out the way that it did. I thought that was a little disgusting because here’s a guy who is making a quality-of-life decision. He’s given a lot to the game. Although he’s not a 15-year vet, but he’s put himself through a ton just to get back on the field.”

Rodgers added that he thought Luck handled the decision in an unselfish way, opting to retire rather than continue to get paid by the Colts while on injured reserve.
