Aaron Rodgers said he was a fan of Dwayne Haskins on Sunday

There are many rights of passage for a rookie quarterback making his first trip through the NFL schedule. Interceptions will be thrown, sacks will be taken, and mistakes will be made.

But above all of those, one of the most notable ones is going up against veteran players who you looked up to as a kid, and meeting them face to face on the gridiron. That happened for Washington Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins on Sunday, as his team faced off against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field on Sunday.

The game ended in a 20-15 loss in which Haskins threw for a late touchdown to salvage the day, but the excitement came after the game when Rodgers and Haskins met at midfield and the future Hall of Famer said that he was a fan of the rookie.

“He told me he’s a fan of mine,” Haskins said, via The Athletic. “That meant a lot. (Rodgers is) somebody I look up to.”

Other than it ending in a victory, Rodgers was unable to put up much better stats than Haskins, as he finished with just 195 yards and one touchdown. However, if there was a stat for making a rookie’s day, then he’d have a checkmark in that box as well.
