Aaron Rodgers reportedly compares Packers GM to Jerry Krause

Aaron Rodgers’ relationship with Packers GM Brian Gutekunst is starting to look a bit like the Jerry Krause-Michael Jordan relationship. That’s bad news for Green Bay. | Mark Elias/AP

Now the 1990s Bulls have been drawn into Aaron Rodgers’ ongoing feud with the Packers.

Rodgers once compared Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst to the late Bulls boss Jerry Krause, according to the Athletic.

During the Bulls’ championship heyday, superstar Michael Jordan was not shy about questioning the decisions and role of Krause in the organization. One quote — “Players and coaches don’t win championships, organizations do” — particularly irked Jordan. (Krause contended he was misquoted and he actually said “players and coaches alone don’t win championships.”)

Jordan’s reported response back then? “I didn’t see the organization playing sick last year.”

Rodgers supposedly compared Gutekunst to Krause in group chats with Packers teammates, the Athletic reported.

Rodgers, the reigning NFL MVP, expressed no desire in returning next season to several members of the Packers organization during the NFL draft last week and one report claimed Rodgers would only return if Gutenkunst was removed. The ongoing contentious relationship began when the Packers selected quarterback Jordan Love in the first round of the 2020 draft — shortly before Rodgers’ eventual MVP season.
