Aaron Rodgers misses practice, won't miss Packers' playoff game

Jan. 08--Aaron Rodgers' calf injury has kept him off the field in practice as the Green Bay Packers ready for a divisional showdown with the Dallas Cowboys, but the veteran signal caller says he won't miss the playoffs.

"I'm going on Sunday," Rodgers said Wednesday, according to ESPN. "It's just a matter of how."

Rodgers was temporarily knocked out of a Week 17 game against the Detroit Lions after aggravating a calf injury he suffered the previous week.

The four-time Pro Bowl quarterback later returned to the game to a standing ovation from fans at Lambeau Field and led the Packers to a 30-20 win over Detroit, earning Green Bay a playoff bye week.

Rodgers noted the importance of winning the NFC North title after the game in order to get the week off to allow himself time to recover from the injury.

Rodgers missed practice Wednesday and two others last week.

"I plan on Aaron playing Sunday," Packers Coach Mike McCarthy said. "Today's schedule was for him to stay exclusively in the training room. It's day-to-day."

The Packers play the Cowboys on Sunday in the divisional round at 10 a.m. Pacific.

Green Bay last hosted Dallas in November 2010, the same season in which it won its fourth Super Bowl. In that game Rodgers passed for 289 yards and three touchdowns without having a pass intercepted as the Packers romped, 45-7.
