Aaron Rodgers confirms he’s back with Packers but has not signed new contract

Aaron Rodgers cleared the air on some discrepancies surrounding a new contract that announced his return to the Green Bay Packers. The quarterback took to Twitter just hours after the news broke of his return to the Packers to confirm that he has yet to sign a new contract. However, Rodgers did confirm he will be back and playing an 18th season with the Packers in 2022.

The details of his contract are still unclear. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport was the first to report that the Packers and Rodgers agreed to a four-year deal worth $200 million. According to Rapoport, the deal included $153 million guaranteed. However, that news was quickly disputed by Pat McAfee, who claimed the terms of the new deal were “not accurate.” This all but confirms that McAfee was getting his information directly from Rodgers.

Of course, Green Bay and Rodgers will have to agree to terms soon. It must happen for the team to get under the salary cap while using the franchise tag on wide receiver Davante Adams. However, Rodgers confirming that he has yet to put pen to paper means we do not know how much the deal is worth or how many years it will last. Green Bay could very well be working on a deal similar to what Rapoport reported, but the quarterback has not agreed to anything.

All we know is that Rodgers will be playing for the Packers next season.
