Aaron Rodgers blasts ‘smear attack’ and ‘bitter’ former teammates in fiery interview

Aaron Rodgers didn’t like the details that came out in last week’s deep dive by the Bleacher Report’s Tyler Dunne and on Monday the Green Bay Packers QB came out firing, giving his take on the article and more.

And he didn’t hold back.

If you haven’t read the article, the main takeaways were that Rodgers and former head coach Mike McCarthy didn’t get along and that Packers president Mark Murphy telling Rodgers “don’t be the problem” during a phone call in which he told the QB that the team was naming Matt LaFleur its new head coach.

He also went off on former teammates Greg Jennings and Jermichael Finley, saying those are the only names that keep popping up in stories that question Rodgers’ ability to be a good leader and teammate.

Rodgers went on Jason Wilde and Mark Tauscher’s ESPN Milwaukee radio show on Monday and unloaded:

He addressed the “problem” quote as well the support he’s received from other players since the report came out:

He also got into his relationship with McCarthy and the names of two former teammates that tend to pop up in stories about Rodgers:

Rodgers also said he regrets his comments he made about the offense after the team lost to the Bills late in the season, via Pro Football Talk:

“I wish I hadn’t said anything after the Bills game last year,” Rodger said, via Demovsky. “I wish I had just gotten with him in person. I wasn’t trying to be disrespectful to him but I know how it came off. That’s what I told him when I met with him face to face.”

Yeah, that’s not the Aaron Rodgers we’re used to hearing but we liked it a lot.
