The agent of Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has indicated that his player is being tracked by a clutch of top European clubs now that he is free to agree terms with clubs outside Europe.
Ramsey’s contract at Arsenal expires at the end of the season and he is set to leave after the club withdrew a £170,000-a-week offer last autumn in the belief that the limited wage funds available to them were better spent elsewhere.
Juventus are understood to be keen to secure Ramsey’s signature before the end of the season. The Welsh midfielder will also make an appealing prospect for many other clubs, who would not need to pay a transfer fee to secure him in the summer.
Arsenal fan and journalist Piers Morgan appears to think otherwise and tweeted: “Could every single person in the world who genuinely believes Aaron Ramsey is currently being ‘hotly pursued’ by Real Madrid, Juventus, PSG, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan & Barcelona please raise their right hand?”
That elicited a brief response from the account of Ramsey’s representatives Avid Sports & Entertainment Group. The Welsh midfielder’s representative David Baldwin is known to use the account.
A simple emoji of a waving hand was posted by Avid in response, seemingly indicating that the sextet are indeed keen on signing Ramsey.
It remains to be seen whether a bid from any of those teams materialises in the January window or indeed whether Arsenal would countenance selling the midfielder at a cut price in a market it would be difficult to secure a replacement of commensurate quality.
