As the business end of the season draws closer, attention will gradually start focusing on how Liverpool will begin to rebuild from a disappointing Premier League title defence.
There will be inevitable calls for Jurgen Klopp to dip into the transfer market to strengthen his squad, and over the next few weeks and months there will be a host of names that are supposedly on their shortlist.
Here, we take a look at some of the latest rumours and assess whether or not they are likely to happen or not.
Who?
Jeremy Doku, Rennes forward.
Where?
Liverpool were said to be interested in the 18-year-old forward last summer while he was at Anderlecht, before he instead moved to Ligue 1 club Rennes.
He claimed that the Reds showed an interest in him before moving to France, and now the teenager believes that it’s still possible that could become a Liverpool player in the future.
“I preferred to be careful. I know what my trajectory has to be,” Sport Witness quotes Doku as telling Ouest-France.
"That’s why, at 15, I told myself it had become serious, because I’d seen my career.
"I know what route I needed to take and I knew at that moment I needed to stay at Anderlecht.
“As soon as I’m asked if I regret it, I always say no, because if Liverpool came to me at 15, if they like me, they’ll come back later, that’s certain. It’s up to me to be good."
What?
Liverpool have shown that they are all about planning for the future, as well as making sure the present stays solid and secure.
Whether the club did show an interest in Doku last summer remains a mystery, and it’s also unknown whether or not they will show interest yet again in the months or years ahead.
Doku clearly has talent that is there to be harnessed, but whether that will be at Anfield is not clear.
Who?
Adrian, Liverpool goalkeeper.
Where?
According to reports in Spain, Adrian is said to be looking at returning to his former club Real Betis at the end of the season.
The 34-year-old is apparently planning on returning to his homeland of Spain in the summer, and Sport Witness cite La Razon as making the claim.
What?
When Adrian was signed by Liverpool in August 2019. Very few expected him to be as needed as he was in his first season.
Helping win the Super Cup and was part of the Premier League title winning team that won the first eight league games of the campaign will forever make him part of the club’s history.
This season has seen him fall down the pecking order to third choice behind Alisson Becker and Caoimhin Kelleher, and the chances of the club keeping a 34-year-old to barely even feature on the bench is not very likely.
Who?
Aaron Ramsey, Juventus midfielder.
Where?
Reports from Italy over the weekend claimed that Ramsey is set to leave the Serie A giants this summer upon the expiration of his contract, with Liverpool along with West Ham listed as potential new destinations.
Now a report in AnfieldCentral claims that Ramsey is not a player that the Reds are interested in, and will not be pursuing a move for the former Arsenal man.
What?
Liverpool could well be in the market for an experienced midfielder this summer, with the likely departure of Gini Wijnaldum.
Ramsey does have Premier League experience, but his time in Italy has not gone as well as he would have liked.
Chances are, any rumours linking him with a move to Anfield are very unlikely, and does not suit the club’s long-term transfer strategy, especially after already bringing in experienced quality in the form of Thiago Alcantara.
