Aaron Ramsey explains why he was always going to snub transfer to Man Utd

Aaron Ramsey admitted he set his heart on joining Juventus as soon as they came in for him.

Former Arsenal midfielder Ramsey, 28, was heavily linked with Bayern Munich and Manchester United but says there was only ever one place he wanted to go.

Ramsey said: “As soon as I knew Juve were in for me, there was no question about where I was going to go. You can't turn down that opportunity.

"I'm so excited to be here and hopefully I can be a part of a new history. There were other clubs, but this is the right club for me.”

Ramsey, who left Arsenal after 11 years when his contract expired this summer, says he is relishing the chance to play under former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri and says his style of play can suit his game.

Wales star Ramsey, who is still recovering from a hamstring problem which curtailed his final season with Arsenal, added: “I know from this coach, from his time last year in England.

"He definitely likes to play football and has his own philosophy and I’m sure all the players here will adapt nicely to that.

“I think that from what I saw last season he had a very good season for Chelsea, he got to two finals and won one of them.

"He got in the top four and that is not easy to do so it was definitely success for him there but hopefully he can bring his philosophy and style to this team.”
