Aaron Ramsey drops hint over who should be Arsenal's next captain

The return of Rob Holding was wonderful news for everyone involved with Arsenal.

The defender had been out of action for almost 10 months when he made his first senior appearance for the Gunners against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night.

Not only did Holding play the full 90 minutes of the game, but he was also handed the captain's armband when Mesut Ozil was replaced after 71 minutes.

Whether it was a gesture of good will, or a sign of things to come, it certain has got supporters and former players talking.

Rob Holding took to social media after the game with an emotion post that said: "Best feeling in the world, honoured to wear the armband! Top work from the boys tonight! You knowww!!!"

Among the many replies to his Instagram post was a reply from former Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey.

The midfielder left to join Juventus over the summer but appeared to back the 24-year-old by referring to him as 'skip' in his comment.

Ramsey posted: "Bobby, so good to see you back and getting on the score sheet. Love it skip!", to which Holding replied, "Thankyou bro!"

Ramsey wasn't the only former Gunner to pass on his congratulations as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also commented on Holding's post, saying: "Love it Bob!"

Rob Holding would certainly be a popular choice among the supporters to be Arsenal captain, and if the verdict of these former club favourites is anything to go by it seems like he could have the backing of the Gunners alumni as well.
