Aaron Ramsdale to Arsenal transfer saga takes another twist with fresh revelation

Aaron Ramsdale is "very keen" to push through a transfer to Arsenal, according to reports.

The Sheffield United goalkeeper has been linked with a move to the Emirates for some time, in what is proving to be a drawn-out, summer-long affair.

The Blades, relegated from the top flight last season, have already rebuffed bids from the Premier League side and remain adamant that Arsenal, or any other club interested, will have to pay a fee upwards of £30million.

So far Arsenal have been reluctant to go that high whilst Ramsdale's behaviour and general attitude is not said to have been an issue in the saga.

Now though, an update from journalist Alan Nixon appears to suggest that the 23-year-old is harbouring hope of a deal being struck.

Posting today, Nixon wrote on social media: "Sheff U. Ramsdale very keen to get this Arsenal move on. Pushing hard to get away. Clubs can’t sort a fee. And he wants to be in Premier. This one may escalate ..."

Ramsdale has started both Championship games for Sheffield United this season, against Birmingham and Swansea City respectively.

United chief Slavisa Jokanovic was again quizzed on the goalkeeper's future in the build-up to their match in Wales.

On Ramsdale's future he insisted: "I don't have any intention to sell him. He will be in my starting 11 for the next game.

"He is a very good keeper and I am really happy working with him. He's a really expensive keeper too."

Over the weekend United were linked with both Robin Olsen and Seny Dieng as potential alternatives should Ramsdale eventually move on.

Arsenal endured a torrid start to the new season, with Mikel Arteta's side losing 2-0 to newly-promoted Brentford.

He wants competition for regular number one Bernd Leno but his quest to bring in another stopper could well rumble on until the closure of the transfer window on August 31.
